This was scene after a micro car dramatically caught fire this morning.
A huge plume of black smoke drifted across Ballasalla during the incident on the Clagh Vane estate.
The owner of the ’twist-and-go’ Aixam micro car looked on as fire crews arrived to put out the blaze.
It is understood that he had got into the car to go to work when it caught fire as he started it up.
He was not injured and the blaze was quickly extinguished.Castletown and Malew fire station said it responded to a reported electric vehicle fire at 8.23am today.A spokesman said: 'On arrival it was confirmed that the vehicle was well alight.'The owner of the car informed fire crews that the vehicle contained work tools and gardening equipment.'Due to the high fire loading and the vehicles construction the fire had spread quickly from the engine compartment.'Crews remained in attendance for 50 minutes until what little was left of the vehicle could be recovered.'
