Fire crews have responded to a fire in the area of Bircham avenue close, Ramsey.
Two occupants of the house where the fire occurred suffered minor injuries, one from smoke inhalation and the other minor burns.
A fire service spokesman said: ’On arrival, the officer in charge of the first appliance quickly ascertained all persons were out of the property and the fire was confined to the kitchen.
’Once extinguished, crews ventilated the property of smoke using PPV fans. Crews remained in attendance for approximately one hour.
’The occupant was alerted by a working smoke alarm. Smoke alarms save lives. Smoke alarms that are properly installed and maintained play a vital role in reducing fire deaths and injuries.
’If there is a fire in your home, smoke spreads fast and you need smoke alarms to give you time to get out.’
Both of those who suffered injuries were treated by the Isle of Man Ambulance service.
