A motorist has been fined £1,000 and banned from driving for six months after a string of driving-related offences.
Billy Robert Sumner, aged 23, of Church Road Marina, Douglas, admitted two counts of driving without insurance, two licence offences, two offences of having no vehicle licence, two of having a defective tyre and one of having defective steering.
Sumner also admitted breaching a licensing ban by entering O’Donnell’s bar on December 7.
Prosecutor Rebecca Cubbon told the court that on November 13 at 3.50am, Sumner was parked in a Toyota Corolla at Ballakermeen Drive in Douglas.
Police spoke to him as his vehicle licence had expired in August. He was given five days to produce his documents but failed to do so.
On November 20, Sumner was again spoken to by police while in the Corolla on Windsor Road in Douglas.
The car tyres were worn and the vehicle was taken to the test centre where a steering defect was also found.
Advocate Kate Alexander said her client had no previous convictions for driving matters. She said Sumner had a provisional licence which had expired shortly before the offences.
’He has been using the vehicle out of convenience,’ said Ms Alexander.
Sumner was also ordered to pay £100 prosecution costs.
