A 21-year-old man accused of murdering his mother and attempting to murder his father has been remanded in custody.

James Price of Croft Park, Andreas, appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes today (Tuesday) via live video link from the prison in Jurby.

Price has been charged with two offences, both said to have occured on Sunday, January 17 - one for the alleged murder of Jacquelyn Price and allegedly attempting to murder David Price.

The court heard from the duty advocate, Kate Alexander, that Price was making no application for bail at present and seeking an advocate for his defence.

Mrs Hughes adjourned proceedings and remanded the accused in custody until his next court appearance on February 23 at 10am.

Committal proceedings to the Court of General Gaol Delivery will take place on March 16.
