A 57-year-old man has been fined £350 for being drunk and disorderly.

Paul McGreevy, of Clifton Terrace, Douglas, admitted the offence and was also ordered to pay £125 prosecution costs.

The court heard that police were called to Jaks bar on July 25 at 8.20pm after staff reported a man who was refusing to leave.

When officers arrived McGreevy had left the premises but he was found in Market Street.

He was said to be heavily intoxicated and was obtrusive when asked for his details saying: ’What do you want to know this information for? Yous are some shower. I’m not staying.

’Don’t tell me what to do.’

McGreevy was said to have pushed police away from him after they took hold of him.

Defence advocate Matthew Wilshaw said: ’The facts are accepted. Mr McGreevy says he was in Jaks alone and there was a commotion with a group. They ejected him but he wasn’t with the group so he argued his case.

’Police caught up with him in Market Street and he accepts, in the cold light of day, he should have been co-operative.

’We would submit this is at the lower end of disorderly offences.’

High Bailiff Jayne Hughes ordered McGreevy to pay the fine and costs at a rate of £100 per month.
