A 35-year-old woman has admitted driving to McDonald’s while almost three times the drink-drive limit.
Yvette Naidoo, of Chaffinch Close, Douglas, failed a breathalyser test with a reading of 103. The legal limit is 35.
She will be sentenced on June 8 after a probation report has been completed.
Prosecuting advocate Rebecca Cubbon told the court that police were called to Meadow Crescent in Douglas on February 26 at 8.54am.
They had received a report of dangerous driving and a witness said they saw Naidoo’s Mini Cooper overtaking on the wrong side of the road and hitting a stationary Manx Independent Carriers van.
She didn’t stop and was then said to have narrowly missed hitting a bus.
The witness followed the Mini to McDonald’s and police found her parked in the waiting area there.
There was damage to the front of her vehicle and she was described as slurring her words and having glazed eyes.
After failing a roadside breathalyser test she was arrested and said: ’Even though I drank last night?’
At police headquarters she produced the reading of 103 and told police: ’I did have a few glasses of wine last night.’
High Bailiff Jayne Hughes said that a full probation report would be required, which considered all sentencing options.
Bail was granted in the sum of £500 with conditions to live at her home address, not to drive, and to contact probation.
