A man has admitted common assault after pushing a licensee at the Thirsty Pigeon pub in Douglas.

Daniel Kurt Moore, of Rheast Barrule, Castletown, knocked the man’s glasses off and injured his finger during the incident.

The 32-year-old will be sentenced on December 10 after a probation report has been prepared.

Prosecuting advocate Rebecca Cubbon told the court how police were called to the pub in Victoria Street on September 26 at 11.15pm.

Witnesses said there had been a fight inside the pub which had led to Moore being escorted out.

He was said to have made several attempts to re-enter the bar and pushed the designated official knocking him off balance, causing his glasses to fall off and injuring his finger.

Moore was arrested and when interviewed by police said a fight had started near to him in the pub so he had intervened.

He claimed he was then put in a ’choke hold’ by a member of security staff.

Moore admitted he had been aggressive in trying to get back inside the bar but said he could not remember any assault.

The court heard that he has only one previous conviction in 2006.

Deputy High Bailiff Chris Arrowsmith adjourned the case to allow time for the probation report to be prepared and ordered that it consider all sentencing options, including custody.

Bail was granted in the sum of £500 with conditions that Moore reside at his home address, contact probation and not enter the Thirsty Pigeon or contact the licensee.
