Two vandals have admitted committing criminal damage at St Ninian’s High School, in Douglas.

William David Gilardoni, aged 20, of Peveril Road, Douglas, was with another male when they damaged a door at the school. The co-accused, a juvenile who cannot be named for legal reasons, is being dealt with separately.

The pair was initially jointly charged with burglary with intent to cause criminal damage and pleaded not guilty.

But at a pre-trial review on Tuesday they pleaded guilty to the replacement joint charge of criminal damage.

Prosecutor Rebecca Cubbon told the court that the duo entered the school through a window on September 22 at 1.10pm. The juvenile then used a hammer belonging to the school to damage an internal door.

The damage was not discovered until the following morning by the school caretaker.

They were identified using CCTV footage.

The case was adjourned until today (Thursday) when sentencing will take place after a probation report has been compiled.

Bail continues for both.
