At 11.10am, the team was called to assist paramedics in carrying out the injured rider, who had come off their bike and hit a tree on the Spoot Vane track, using a stretcher.

A spokesman said: ’The team met the paramedics at the rendezvous point and transported them to the injured rider. ’The rider was declared walking wounded and was able to be transported to the ambulance by a coastguard land rover then on to hospital.

’The remaining team members were picked up and returned to station and ready the vehicle and equipment.

The spokesman added: ’As well as cliff and coastal rescues all coastguard teams are fully equipped for all cases of inland search and rescues.’
