A Peel man has appeared in court charged with a string of motoring offences.

Mark Anthony Priestnal, of Atholl Place, denied three counts of careless driving, one of obstructing a highway, and one of failing to produce insurance. The 62-year-old admitted three counts of failing to produce insurance and two of failing to produce in licence.

A pre-trial review for the not guilty pleas will be held on March 26. The offences are alleged to have been committed on seven dates.

Mr Priestnal told magistrates: ’Put me in jail’, saying he was sick of being stopped by police, claiming he had been stopped about 30 times.

He apologised to magistrates for wearing shorts and said he would wear a suit next time. He said he was going fishing for ’a bit of peace’.

Bail was granted.
