Emergency services were called to search Douglas Bay in the early hours of Saturday morning following reports a person had entered the water, but and not been seen exiting it.
Douglas Coastguard and police searched the beach with one team working north from the Broadway area with a line search while the Coastguard’s Land Rover covered the south end.
Douglas all-weather lifeboat, under the command of volunteer coxswain Edd Christian, was also called out to follow the line of the beach as close in as they were able to work.
The lifeboat crew were also able to illuminate the area with flares and searchlights.
Fortunately the person was located by police at home and spoken too.
A spokeperson from the coastguard added: ’They also need to thank their friend for calling and alerting the coastguards when they realised they had lost sight of the person in the water. Early intervention can save lives.’
