A ’play fight’ with a friend has cost an offender £200.

Konrad Jakub Krajewski, of Marina Road, Douglas, admitted being found drunk in a public place after a witness reported seeing him grappling with another man in an alley near Castle Street.

Prosecutor James Robinson told the court that police were called to the area on May 12 at 12.15am.

A passing driver had reported seeing Krajewski lying on the ground as another man stood over him.

The man was then said to have dragged Krajewski towards Castle Street.

The witness said the other man then chased Krajewski before grabbing him by the throat.

Police viewed CCTV footage which showed the two men grappling before both entering the Best Kebab takeaway.

They were arrested in the takeaway but were said to appear to be friends.

Defence advocate Kate Alexander asked the court to deal with the incident by way of a financial penalty.

’The other gentleman is a friend and, while they were scuffling, Mr Krajewski’s recollection was that it was a play fight,’ said the advocate.

’But he accepts members of the public would not have known that.’

High Bailiff Jayne Hughes also ordered Krajewski to pay £125 prosecution costs.
