Members of the Isle of Man Constabulary were not amused when a beer tent reveller poked fun at them, a court heard.

Michael Jelski for the prosecution, told Douglas magistrates that 22-year-old Daniel Towler approached police outside Bushy’s beer tent, set up in Bottleneck car park for the TT period, and started dancing around them.

Not appreciating his choreography, police told him to move along.

’Despite this, he continued to dance around them and jeer,’ Mr Jelski told the court.

In fact Towler’s antics became even more extreme as he supplemented the dance routine with an abusive chant.

He was arrested.

Towler’s response was to swear at police, saying he did not know he was not allowed to reply.

He admitted being drunk and disorderly on June 5.

Defending Towler, who lives at Cronkbourne village, Paul Glover said he apologised.

He was initially fined £600 with £125 costs but magistrates later conceded this was too harsh and reduced it to a £300 fine.
