A long-serving police officer from Douglas has appeared in court facing further charges of theft.

Constable Kevin Scott Williams, aged 49, of Port-e-Chee Avenue, has already denied three charges of theft and one of deception.

When he appeared before court this week, he faced three more theft charges and two of false accounting.

He is yet to enter a plea to the latest charges.

Prosecutor Michael Jelski said that the allegations relate to around £83,000 in cash stolen from the Isle of Man Police Federation fund.

We previously reported how Constable Williams has served for more than 20 years in the Manx force but is currently suspended.

He was head of the search team and also chairman of the Isle of Man Police Federation before his suspension.

Constable Williams is due to be committed to the Court of General Gaol Delivery on July 31.

He will appear in court again on June 26 as the case moves towards committal.

Bail continues, with conditions that he should live at home, report to a police station three times a week and not leave the island without court permission.
