A 22-year-old Port Erin man has been jailed after admitting failing to isolate for 14 days after returning to the island on October 14.

Toby Wood, of Edremony Estate, was said to have gone to Rushen Football Club on October 22, then met a friend on October 23 to go for a walk.

When police arrived to arrest him at his address on October 24 he was waiting outside.

He initially denied the offence but today changed his plead to guilty to failing to comply with Covid-19 directions under the Emergency Powers Act.

Magistrates jailed him for four weeks.

We will have more on this and other updates from the courts in all of this week’s papers.
