A 21-year-old Douglas man has been fined £750 for careless driving.

Aaron Lee Bradley sent a postal admission to the offence and also had his licence endorsed with nine points.

Prosecuting advocate Rebecca Cubbon told the court how Bradley, who lives at Lakeside Road, was driving on Peel Road towards the Quarterbridge roundabout on June 12 in the evening.

Police saw him travelling at speed and followed him with their blue lights on as he turned towards Braddan.

Officers reported that they were driving at 70mph but were unable to catch Bradley.

He then drove past Noble’s Hospital through Strang where another police car was waiting and blocked him.

In written mitigation sent to the court Bradley, who is a ’R’ plate driver, said he had panicked and had hoped the police lights were not on for him.

Deputy High Bailiff James Brooks also ordered him to pay £50 prosecution costs and extended his ’R’ plate period by six months.
