The island’s Search and Rescue Dog Association joined forces with the police for a joint exercise yesterday (Saturday).
The scenario was that four teenagers had crashed a car under the influence of alcohol at Beinn-y-Phott and made off on foot believed to be heading towards Peel.
A SARDA spokesman said: ’The police search advisors briefed the dog teams and gave both dog teams areas to search. The four "casualties" were police cadets.
’SARDA 1 was dog handler Jim MacGregor and search dog Star with navigator Marc Marshall. ’SARDA 2 was dog handler Gary Wright with search dog Holly and navigator John Callow.
’The police shadowed the dog teams so they could see how the dogs worked and all four casualties where found.’
