A roofing company has been fined £1,120 for having no vehicle licence and no HGV operator licence.
MSN Roofing and Scaffolding, whose office is at Campion Way, Douglas, were represented in court by director Marc Newell who pleaded guilty to two counts of each offence.
Prosecuting advocate Hazel Carroon told the court how a member of the Road Transport Licensing Committee saw a HGV belonging to the company parked on Prospect Hill on December 19.
They later checked records and found that the company had not applied for an operator licence.
On February 1 police stopped a heavy goods vehicle belonging to the company on Governor’s Road in Onchan and found that the vehicle licence had expired in July 2020.
The annual duty for the HGV was said to be £319.
Mr Newell said that he had not known that the operator licence was required even though the company had been going for six years. He said he had not been informed about it.
He also said that the tax disc had been overlooked because of Covid but the tax had since been backdated.
Magistrates fined the company £160 for each tax offence and £800 for the two operator licence offences.
Prosecution costs of £50 were also ordered.
