An Anagh Coar man has been put on probation for 18 months after a row over him playing loud music and singing.

Kristopher Coward was asked to be quiet by a man in a neighbouring property but swore at him and refused.

The 33-year-old admitted threatening behaviour as well as a separate offence of theft of a set of golf clubs by finding.

He was already the subject of a 12-month probation order, imposed on August 10, but this was revoked and replaced with the new 18-month order.

Prosecuting advocate Barry Swain told the court that, on July 22, the complainant and his wife were in their rear garden at Anagh Coar Road when they heard loud music and singing coming from a neighbouring flat.

The complainant approached Coward, who was at his cousin’s flat at the time, to ask him to be quiet but he responded by swearing at him saying: ’There’s nothing you can do about it. I’ll do what I want and you can’t stop me.’

He was later arrested for threatening behaviour.

On August 21 police were at Coward’s home at Tramman Park, Anagh Coar, in relation to another matter when they found a set of Ping golf clubs which had been reported as stolen.

The clubs were taken from a car on August 4 but Coward said he had found them in Demesne Road and taken them home.

Defence advocate Stephen Wood apologised on behalf of his client who was late arriving for court.

Mr Wood said of the theft by finding: ’The goods were recovered. They were of relatively low value.’

Of the threatening behaviour, the advocate said: ’It was effing and jeffing at somebody who’s come to complain at his doorstep. It seems they chose to stay at his doorstep when arguably had the individuals chosen to leave, it might have meant the incident was shorter. But had Mr Coward chosen to close the door himself the incident would have been shorter.’

High Bailiff Jayne Hughes also ordered him to pay £175 prosecution costs which he will pay, along with the fine, at a rate of £10 per week, deducted from benefits.
