A 35-year-old man has been fined £250 after a row at a house party.
Christopher John Smith admitted being drunk and disorderly after police arrived at his home on June 22.
Prosecutor James Robinson told the court that police were called to Smith’s Kerroo Coar home in Peel at 9.50pm after a report of a fight at a party.
Officers arrived to find a number of people in the garden at the rear of the property while two women were said to be arguing.
When police arrived Smith was said to have sworn, shouting: ’Don’t let them in.’
One woman tried to shut the gate as police offiers tried to gain entry and Smith was said to have been verbally abusive.
He was told to calm down and was said to be smelling of alcohol and unsteady on his feet as he stepped out of the property.
Smith continued to be verbally aggressive and abusive telling police where to go and saying: ’You’re a civil servant and I pay your wages.’
He was subsequently arrested.
The court heard that he has no convictions for 14 years.
Defence advocate Kate Alexander asked for credit to be given for her client’s guilty plea.
She said: ’This was a case of Mr Smith attempting to diffuse a situation then things getting out of hand. He is embarrassed to be before the court and at the way things have turned out.’
High Bailiff Jayne Hughes also ordered Smith to pay £125 prosecution costs.
