The 15-year-old dog, was saved from the water by the RNLI near to the boathouse by Fort Anne following an alert from harbour control about a dog in distress.
Fortunately for the dog and its owner, the lifeboat crew were performing a routine exercise in Douglas bay when the call came.
Returning immediately to the harbour, with the good weather and calm sea, the dog was quickly located by the inner leading light and taken aboard the lifeboat.
The dog was quickly dried off and wrapped in a blanket, then returned to its grateful owner who was waiting by Fort Anne jetty.
It is believed the dog unintentionally entered the water around the area of the RNLI boathouse.
