Police are warning people about a scam text and phone calls which claim to be from the Isle of Man Bank.
They said that they have had numerous reports of a message being received which reads: ’IOM Bank: A new payee, D Paul has been added to your mobile banking on 09/02/21, if this was NOT set up by you please visit us.'The text also includes a link which should not be clicked.
Likewise, if anyone receives a call claiming to be from IoM Bank, they should hang up immediately.
IoM Bank have issued a genuine text to their customers: ’We continue to see a number of fraud attacks targeting Isle of Man residents. These have been via telephone and text message. Isle of Man Bank will NEVER ask you to provide your full PIN, password, card reader codes or one time passcodes over the phone. These codes should not be given to anyone, in any circumstances. 'If you are suspicious about a call, hang up immediately. If you receive an SMS which you are suspicious about, do not click on any links. Please forward it to our reporting number which you can find on our website. Remember, NEVER send money to someone who you don’t know. If you think you have been a victim of a fraud, please contact us immediately.
