Police have thanked residents for their help as they investigate damage to a shop window in Port Erin.

Officers appealed for witnesses after the shop window of Thompson Travel, in Station Road, was smashed overnight Friday/Saturday.

They have now issued an update to say a male has claimed responsibility for the incident.

Officers said: ’Following the damage to the window at Thompson Travel Port Erin last night, a male has made the sensible decision to come forward to the police claiming responsibility.

’It goes without saying that the positive and supportive reaction of the public along with the power of social media has helped in the early detection of this offence. Thank you.’
