Caroline Lee Marshall, of Fairfield Terrace, admitted theft from TK Maxx on July 13.
She pleaded guilty to taking £61.93-worth of clothes, saying she had stolen them to order for an unnamed person.
Prosecutor Barry Swain told the court how, at 9.15am, Marshall was seen putting numerous items into a carrier bag in the shop and then leaving without paying.
She was detained by staff outside until police arrived.
In an interview she said she had been asked to steal for a person she was not prepared to name and was going to be earning cash for doing it.
Defence advocate Paul Glover asked for credit to be given for his client’s guilty plea.
’The property was recovered. No violence was offered,’ said the advocate.
Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes said: ’This wasn’t spur of the moment. You went there because someone had asked you to do so. There was an element of premeditation.’
Marshall was also ordered to pay £125 prosecution costs.
