A man who was ejected from a pub by six people has been fined £600 after admitting disorderly behaviour on licensed premises.

Thomas Ashley Hall, aged 24, of Lheaney Road, Ramsey, was thrown out of the Stanley Hotel on West Quay in Ramsey on March 1, a court heard.

He appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes last week.

Prosecuting advocate Hazel Carroon told the court that Hall was drinking in the bar at 12.22am when he got involved in an altercation with another man.

Hall was said to have pursued the man through the bar area, trying to grab him and throw punches at him.

Customers and staff separated the pair but Hall was then said to have got his hands around the man’s neck during a melee.

Two staff members and four patrons managed to get Hall outside and the designated official reported Hall had accidentally hit her during the fracas.

Police were called and a short time later Hall returned to the pub and was arrested.

When interviewed, he gave ’no comment’ responses to most questions but said that he had drunk eight pints of Carling though he said that it had not made him that drunk.

Defence advocate Matthew Wilshaw said: ’Mr Hall tells me another person spat on him and that caused him to react.

’He accepts he should have just left the pub.

’Once outside he walked away but then received a call from his dad saying police were looking for him so he went back.’

Mr Wilshaw went on to say that Hall would welcome an alcohol ban.

High Bailiff Jayne Hughes obliged, banning him from entering licensed premises, and purchasing or being sold alcohol for six months.

He was also ordered to pay £125 prosecution costs which he will pay, along with the fine, at a rate of £100 per month.
