A 27-year-old man from Ramsey has been fined £140 by magistrates and had his driving licence endorsed with three penalty points for speeding.

Jake Stephen Ford, of Lezayre Road, pleaded guilty to driving at 44 miles per hour in a 30 zone on the A9 Andreas Road.

The court heard how, on June 30, police were performing speed checks near the Grove Museum in Ramsey with a handheld laser speed gun.

At 12.30pm, Ford was recorded speeding at 44mph in an Audi A3 and was subsequently stopped by police.

The court heard that Ford already had 10 penalty points on his licence so this offence also meant that he was disqualified under the totting-up process.

Ford was disqualified for six months and also ordered to pay £50 prosecution costs.
