A Peel teenager has been sentenced to community service after he breached an ASBO.

Adam Joseph Craig Gallagher, of Kerroo Coar, admitted breaching the order by drinking in a public place.

The 17-year-old was ordered to do 60 hours of unpaid work.

Gallagher was given the ASBO in December 2018 but breached it on September 20.

Defence advocate David Reynolds asked for credit to be given for his client’s guilty plea.

Mr Reynolds asked for consideration to be given to the fact that the ASBO had not been breached until nine months after it was imposed.

’It was not a sophisticated offence,’ said the advocate. ’Clearly there were conditions that he shouldn’t be drinking in a public place. He has a lot of maturing to do.’

Mr Reynolds went on to say that Gallagher was unemployed and looking for work.

A probation report assessed him as being a low to medium risk of reoffending.
