A teenager from Douglas has been fined £300 for possession of £132-worth of cannabis.
Nathaniel Benjamin Gilbert, aged 19, of Bray Hill, admitted the offence and was also ordered to pay £125 prosecution costs.
Prosecutor Barry Swain told the court how, on October 30 at 10.20pm, Gilbert was found by police in a Vauxhall Corsa on Derby Road, Douglas.
Gilbert was a passenger in the vehicle, which was said to be smelling of cannabis.
A bag of the drug, which was weighed at 6.6 grams, was found in Gilbert’s pocket along with a grinder.
Mr Swain said there had been no suggestion of dealing.
Defence advocate Kate Alexander asked for credit to be given for her client’s early guilty plea and said: ’Mr Gilbert is a stay-at-home father.
’His partner has a job with long hours and he looks after their child.’
Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes told the teenager: ’You need to set an example to your child moving forward and not use cannabis.’
