A teenager from Kirk Michael has admitted being involved in bringing cannabis to the island in the post.

Kyle Moore, of Faaie ny Cabbal, was arrested after a package was intercepted at the Post Office sorting office on April 26.

More cannabis was found during a search of the 18-year-old’s home.

In total the drugs were said to weigh 92.2 grams with a value of £1,844.

Prosecutor Hazel Carroon told the court that police were called to the sorting office to investigate a suspicious package.

When opened it was found to contain two packages of cannabis bush.

The package was addressed to Moore at his home address.

Numerous inquiries had been made by Moore to the post office as to the whereabouts of the parcel. After being arrested drug paraphernalia was also found at his home.

When interviewed he handed in a prepared statement saying that he was a regular cannabis user and that the drugs were for personal use, denying being involved in any supply.

The court heard that he has no previous convictions.

Advocate Jim Travers said it was a moderate quantity of cannabis and added there had been little sophistication involved in his client’s offence.

High Bailiff Jayne Hughes adjourned the case for a probation report to be compiled before sentencing on August 27 and ordered that it consider all options, including custody.

Bail was granted.
