Peric Fynn Warrilow, of Ballure Road, Ramsey, admitted careless driving and also had his licence endorsed with three points.
The court heard that the 18-year-old already had eight points on his licence previously.
Prosecuting advocate Barry Swain told the court how police were called to Churchtown at Lezayre Road on October 19 at 5.25pm after a report of an accident.
Warrilow’s Nissan Micra was on the embankment and he admitted he was the driver saying he had made an error.
Defence advocate Michael Mudge said that his client would lose his employment if he was given four points and disqualified from driving.
’He only passed his test one and a half months before the crash. The simple fact is he wasn’t experienced enough to deal with the road conditions.
’He contacted police and admitted responsibility.’
Mr Mudge said that imposing more than three points would put Warrilow in a position where he would be claiming benefits.
Magistrates spared him disqualification and also ordered him to pay £50 prosecution costs.
