A Douglas teenager has admitted having ecstasy sent to him in the post.

Isaac Nathan Cain, of Rosemount, tried to collect £1,104-worth of the drug in a package at the sorting office and was arrested.

The 17-year-old pleaded guilty to production of a class A drug to the island and was committed to the Court of General Gaol Delivery, where he will appear on November 25.

Prosecuting advocate Barry Swain told the court that, on September 8, the occupant of a property at Heather Crescent in Pulrose received a missed delivery note from the post office.

The package was addressed to ’Cian’ but at 6pm, Cain turned up at the sorting office to collect it, despite not having the delivery note.

He was subsequently arrested and the parcel was found to contain 27.6 grams of ecstasy, with a purity of 60.2&, valued at £1,104.

Mr Swain said that the offence was not suitable for summary court.

Defence advocate Stephen Wood said that his client would be entering a basis of plea before sentencing.

High Bailiff Jayne Hughes granted bail in the sum of £500 with conditions that Cain live at his home address and does not leave the island without court permission.
