A teenager has admitted breaching her bail by making a nuisance 999 call.
Lisa McGhee, of Mona Street, told the emergency operator she was ’high as a kite’ on cannabis and had lit a barbecue outside her house on a wooden chair next to an aerosol.
She was granted bail on Monday with a condition not to make unnecessary 999 calls but later that day, at 8.39pm, emergency services received her call about the barbecue.
Police then went to her Mona Street address and found the lit barbecue.
Prosecutor Hazel Carroon said this appeared to be a deliberate attempt to breach the bail conditions.
McGhee had walked around 800 metres from her home before ringing the police so it could not be considered an emergency.
Aadvocate Kate Alexander described it as a ’sad situation’ and said that her client wanted to be remanded in custody as she had said she felt they would manage her mental health.
The case was adjourned until Tuesday (May 7) as other matters were said to be being investigated.
