A teenager has admitted stealing £400 from Peel Golf Club while he worked there.
Jakob Michael Hewer admitted the theft offence and will be sentenced today (August 13) after a probation report has been completed.
Prosecuting advocate Rachael Braidwood told the court that Hewer was employed at the golf club between December 2019 and March 2020 behind the bar.
The 19-year-old was said to have taken numerous amounts of cash from the till after processing transactions as refunds to customers or voided payments.
On March 6 he was arrested but when interviewed by police denied taking any cash.
When asked why there were so many refunds and void transactions when he was working he claimed that he would do this when he needed to find out a price.
He also said that his girlfriend had worked behind the bar and that he had processed some transactions when she had made an error.
However, Hewer, who lives in Mona Street, Peel, was interviewed again on April 26 and this time admitted stealing around £400.
He told police he had forgotten that he had stolen the money when he was interviewed the first time and admitted that his girlfriend never used the till.
The court heard that Hewer is currently subject to a community service order, which organisers have deemed unworkable and have asked for it to be revoked.
Defence advocate Paul Glover asked for a probation report to be completed before sentencing.
Bail continues.
