A 19-year-old has been sentenced to 80 hours community service after videoing his assault on a man on his phone and posting it on social media.
Prosecutor Rachael Braidwood told the Deputy High Bailiff how, at 2am, another man, who is being dealt with separately, had punched Corkish.
Corkish then retaliated, punching him and holding him on the ground continuing to punch him and film the incident on his phone.
He then posted it to social media and was later arrested.
In a police interview Corkish said he had been punched and admitted he had retaliated then filmed himself.
Defence advocate David Clegg said: ’Mr Corkish didn’t throw the first punch.
’Had he stopped sooner than he did we might have claimed self defence, but he went too far.
’He is ashamed of having videod it. When he was grabbed he was wearing a new jacket and it was ripped.
’He says he was trying to get the man on film apologising and saying he would pay for it. It wasn’t that he wanted to brag about the fact he’d beaten somebody up.’
Corkish was also ordered by Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes to pay £125 prosecution costs.
