Fire crews from Douglas were dispatched this morning to reports of a flat fire in the Farmhill area.

Station officer David Cowley said: ’Upon arrival sub officer Halsall confirmed that everyone was safely out of the property and that the fire was confined to a tumble dryer.

’Thanks to the quick thinking of the occupier all residents were quickly evacuated and the power isolated. Crews extinguished the fire and remained in attendance for approximately 30 minutes.’

The cause of the fire is currently being investigated.
