A 20-year-old Ramsey man has been fined £650 for disorderly behaviour on licensed premises.

Adam Simon Campbell admitted the offence, committed at the Mitre pub on August 19.

Deputy High Bailiff James Brooks also ordered him to pay £125 prosecution costs.

Prosecuting advocate Roger Kane told the court that Campbell was at the Ramsey bar at 7pm with friends when he got into a verbal altercation with another customer.

The group were asked to leave, which they did.

However, Campbell, who lives at Gladstone Avenue, then returned to the pub and apologised to the designated official and asked if he could have another drink.

The landlord agreed but Campbell then got into a row with another customer and started swearing.

Police arrived and he was again asked to leave the pub but swore at officers several times and was subsequently arrested.

Defence advocate David Clegg said that the incident had involved ’verbals only’.

’Mr Campbell says he wasn’t the instigator of the earlier event,’ said the advocate.

’He returned to the bar and was served, which perhaps lends some credence to that.

’Another male then accosted him and there were some verbals but there has not been any physical contact.’

Deputy High Bailiff Mr Brooks ordered Campbell to pay the fine and costs at a rate of £40 per fortnight, deducted from benefits.
