A motorcyclist from Merseyside has died following a three-vehicle collision on the Mountain Road today (Sunday), police have confirmed.

The crash took place at about 11.20am between the Creg ny Baa and Brandish corner.

Involved in the collision were a Suzuki motorcycle, being ridden by a man from Merseyside, a Mercedes van, being driven by a man from Northern Ireland and a Ford Kuga, being driven by an island resident. All three vehicles were travelling from the Creg ny Baa towards Brandish.

The rider of the motorcycle was treated for serious injuries at the scene and taken to Noble’s hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Nobody else was injured in the incident.

The road remained closed until 2.50pm for collision investigation work to be carried out.

Chief Inspector Dave Dobbie said: ’I thank the members of the public who stopped and assisted with scene and giving first aid.
