The Mountain Road was closed for a number of hours following a serious collision below Guthrie’s.
A visiting motorcyclist sustained serious but not life threatening injuries following the accident yesterday afternoon.
And within 12 minutes of re-opening, police said the Mountain Road had to be closed again after a car came wide at a bend above Guthrie’s and into a gully, spraying oil and mud all over the road.
Horrendous weather, including high winds gusting up to 60mph on the Mountain, caused headaches for the emergency services.
Roads were obstructed by fallen trees in number of areas, including on the main road in Laxey where a tree came down on overhead power lines.
Police urged riders and drivers of high-side vehicles not to use the Mountain Road until the wind died down.
