A woman from Port Erin has admitted common assault after headbutting a woman outside a bar in Douglas.

Jennifer Bruce, of Ballafurt Road, will be sentenced on July 30 after a probation report has been completed.

Prosecutor Roger Kane told the court that police were called to the area outside Jaks on Granville Street at 10.45pm on June 1 after a woman reported being headbutted.

The woman said she was outside Jaks having a cigarette with a friend when she saw 33-year-old Bruce looking at her.

She said she asked Bruce what her problem was and Bruce swore and said: ’You know what the problem is. You know what you’ve done.’

Bruce was then said to have headbutted the woman in the face.

A witness confirmed the victim’s account of the incident.

Bruce was arrested and during a police interview gave ’no comment’ responses to all questions.

Mr Kane said that the victim had refused to have her injuries documented so they were unknown.

High Bailiff Jayne Hughes ordered that the probation report consider all options, including custody.

Bail was granted in the sum of £500 with conditions that Bruce reside at her home address, contact probation, and not leave the island without court permission.
