A woman has been fined £500 after admitting abusing police officers.

Sophie Margaret Callister, aged 31, of Berrywoods Avenue, in Douglas. pleaded guilty to a charge of threatening behaviour.

Prosecutor James Robinson told the court how, on May 22 at 11.10pm, police were called to Windy Corner on the Mountain Road after a report of a BMW skidding on the road.

The driver told police that Callister had been a passenger and that she had applied the handbrake while he was driving.

She was then said to have got out of the car and started kicking the front bumper.

When police spoke to her, Callister swore at them repeatedly telling them where to go. She then tried to run across the road to get at the driver of the car and was subsequently arrested.

Defence advocate Kate Alexander said: ’Ms Callister accepts she has overreacted when speaking to police.

’It was suggested by police that she was driving and she is a disqualified driver.

’She accepts her behaviour was unacceptable.’

Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes ordered her to pay £125 prosecution costs.
