A 36-year-old Douglas woman has been fined £100 by magistrates for being found drunk in a public place.

Keely Ann Dallimore, of Appledene Court, admitted the offence and was also ordered to pay £50 prosecution costs.

The court heard how, at 6pm on December 16, police were called to Cushag Road in Anagh Coar after a report of a drunk woman crouched down by a vehicle.

She was taken home after family members were called by police due to concerns for her welfare.

She told officers: ’I just wanted to sleep.

’I had a sleeping tablet and that’s why I can’t remember.’

Defence advocate James Peterson said his client had taken a prescribed sleeping tablet: ’She was feeling depressed, is pregnant and has been having trouble sleeping.

’She decided to take one of the sleeping tablets and thought it hadn’t worked so she decided to have a glass of wine.’
