Port Erin Coastguard was called out to Milner’s Tower as a woman had badly damaged her ankle.

The team were called at 10.45am on Wednesday to help paramedics rescue the walker, who had hurt her ankle at the base of the tower on Bradda Head.

When they arrived they stabilised her ankle with a vacuum splint - a device like a small vacuum mattress that is used as a temporary splint in emergencies - and carried the woman down to an ambulance that was waiting nearby.

A spokesman said: ’We wish the casualty a speedy recovery.’
