A woman has been banned from driving for three months after returning to her car after a night out.
Danita Clark, of Vicarage Road, Douglas, said she had no intention of driving.
She admitted being drunk in charge of a vehicle and was banned from driving for three months and fined £500.
Prosecutor Hazel Carroon told the court police were called to the rear Sea Terminal car park on June 29 after a report of a woman stumbling to her car and getting in.
Officers found Clark, aged 54, in the car.
She failed a breathalyser test and was taken to police headquarters.
There she gave a blood/ alcohol reading of 184 - the legal limit is 80.
She told officers she had been out with friends from work that evening. She estimated she had drunk two or three half lagers and a white wine.
Advocate James Peterson handed in character references and a letter written by Clark to magistrates.
’Ms Clark had been out with friends and had quite a large amount to drink,’ Mr Peterson said.
’The night out came to an end and she attempted to call a taxi but was unable to.
’She made the decision to go to her car and sit in it.
’The keys were in her purse but the car had not been turned on.
’She says she had gone to sit down for a moment before getting out and making her way home.’
