A woman from Ramsey has been told to seek help for her problems after being found drunk and on the floor.

Police were called to Patricia Mary Clague’s house at Cronk Elfin just after 3pm on February 6.

Officers found the 50-year-old lying on the ground in a ’highly intoxicated’ state and said that she was incapable of looking after herself.

At Douglas Courthouse on Thursday, Clague admitted one offence of being drunk and disorderly.

Prosecutor Barry Swain told the court: ’The police were very concerned about her safety.

’Officers have dealt with her on numerous occasions before.

’She clearly has an alcohol issue.’

He added: ’There’s a bigger problem here - it’s very sad.’

Addressing the court, Clague’s advocate Ian Kermode said: ’It’s fair to say Ms Clague has been struggling with a number of serious personal problems.

’She continues to drink a substantial amount of alcohol each day.’

He added: ’Clearly there is a need for constructive engagement with relevant authorities.’

Addressing the issue of whether a licensing ban should be imposed, Mr Kermode told Magistrates: ’It seems to be sensible and appropriate in the circumstances.’

Magistrates fined her £150 and she was ordered to pay prosecution costs totalling £50.

Magistrates also banned Clague from entering on-licenced premises or purchasing alcohol for a period of six months.

Chair of the bench Carol Maddrell told Clague: ’We would agree it’s a sad situation.

’We would urge you to get some help for your problems.’
