A Ramsey woman has been fined £600 for disorderly behaviour on licensed premises.

Rachel Marie Christian was arrested after a row at the Mitre pub in Ramsey on September 14.

The 48-year-old, who lives at Queen’s Pier Road, admitted the offence.

Prosecuting advocate Rachael Braidwood told the court that police were called to the bar on West Quay at 8.40pm by Christian herself.

When officers arrived they were told that Christian had been arguing with another female and was drunk, slurring her words, and unsteady on her feet.

Christian was said to be upset and was repeatedly shouting and swearing.

She was told to calm down as her behaviour was distressing for other people in the pub. She was eventually escorted out but continued to shout and was subsequently arrested.

The court heard that she has a previous conviction for being drunk and disorderly in 2019.

Defence advocate Jane Gray said: ’It was a rather unfortunate set of circumstances. At the time Ms Christian was with another person and felt threatened by her behaviour.

’She called the police for assistance but by the time they arrived that situation had grown to become out of hand.

’She wishes to apologise to the court for her behaviour and how she reacted.’

Deputy High Bailiff James Brooks said that he had taken into account Christian’s guilty plea and that the incident had just involved words.

She was also ordered to pay £125 prosecution costs which she will pay, along with the fine, at a rate of £10 per week deducted from benefits.
