A woman has admitted assaulting two police officers, kicking both in the groin.

Rebekka Lowther left a taxi without paying, which led to her being spoken to by police.

The 24-year-old will be sentenced on September 24 after a probation report has been completed.

Prosecuting advocate Hazel Carroon told the court that a taxi driver called police on May 5 at 11.30pm after taking Lowther home.

He said she had walked off and gone into her house without paying the £6.70 fee from Sulby Road in Douglas.

Police saw Lowther at her front door, shouting and described her as clearly drunk, smelling of alcohol and slurring her words.

They asked her to discuss the matter inside but once in the house Lowther was said to have become aggressive and shouted: ’Get out of my house,’ while flailing her arms.

She was subsequently arrested and kicked out striking a female officer in the groin area.

After being taken to police headquarters Lowther’s anger continued as she kicked a male officer in the groin as she was being locked up in a cell.

Lowther, who lives in Alder Road, Douglas, was interviewed later and told police she had drunk one or two bottles of wine and was heavily intoxicated. She claimed she could not find her money and had gone into the house to find some.

Lowther said she had lashed out because she was annoyed at herself and apologised for her behaviour.

Defence advocate Kate Alexander asked for a probation report to be prepared before sentencing.

Deputy High Bailiff Chris Arrowsmith ordered that the report consider all sentencing options, including custody.

Bail was granted at the sum of £500 with conditions that Lowther live at her home address, contact probation, and not leave the island without court consent.
