A 32-year-old woman from Peel has been jailed for 20 months after stealing £33,700 from her uncle’s company.

Fenella Jane Carter, of Christian Avenue, admitting taking the money while contracted to do bookkeeping work for advocate firm Carter Limited, owned by Jerry Carter.

The mother-of-two was sentenced at the Court of General Gaol Delivery this morning by Deemster Murray Rosen.

The court heard that Carter, who used the money to fund repayments for a horse box renovation, had paid the entire sum back but that the company had incurred a £20,000 fine as a result of her actions.
