Two women have been handed suspended sentences after a fight in Chester Street Car Park.

And a third woman has been fined for her part in the fracas.

Tara Lee Ashlyn Cowell, of Castlemona Avenue, was sentenced to 12 weeks’ custody, while Emma Catherine Moore, of Mountfield Road, was given 10 weeks’ custody, both women’s sentences are suspended for two years.

Keyleigh Jade Raby, of Governor’s Hill, was fined £500 with all three woman ordered to pay £100 compensation each to the victim in the incident.

We previously reported how the three women got into a row with a group of people on level four of the car park on January 13, 2016, at 9pm.

Cowell, who is 30, argued with a man and woman before striking out at them.

She was then said to have dragged the woman to the ground by the hair while 27-year-old Raby shouted: ’Don’t go near my brother again.’ Moore, who is 28, shouted: ’Kill her.’

Other people intervened to stop the attack and the three women got into a car, with Moore saying: ’Right girls, let’s go, our work here is done,’ as they left.

The victim was said to have suffered a small cut.

Cowell admitted affray, while Raby and Moore both admitted threatening behaviour.

All three had initially pleaded not guilty to committing affray together but then changed their pleas, with the charges against Moore and Raby amended.

Defending Cowell in court her advocate Stephen Wood said: ’It’s difficult to say exactly what sparked the incident. It seemed to be a group of two people coming together. Nevertheless, the incident is effectively unprovoked.

’But this court will have dealt with affrays previously involving fractures of bones passed up to the Court of General Gaol Delivery. Thankfully this is not the case.

Jim Travers, representing Moore, said that his client’s involvement was ’relatively minimal’ but accepted that she had offered ’limited verbal encouragement’ during the altercation.

Raby’s advocate, Louise Cooil said: ’My client has taken part in the altercation but it was largely verbal.’
