Castletown Commissioners are applying for permission (22/00132/CON) to place a commemorative blue plaque on the town square’s Co-op building to mark the birthplace of Sir Frank Gill (1866-1950).
The renowned telephone engineer played a key role in the initial creation of the BBC in 1922.
It has been said that without his work the BBC would not have been created as a single organisation.
The plans are to unveil the plaque in May.
