A proper village fair! That was the verdict of everyone attending the 46th annual fair in Laxey on Saturday.
The day started in style with a parade at lunchtime through the village led by the Onchan Silver Band and featuring pupils from Laxey School wearing Edwardian and Victorian costumes. Everyone came out to wave flags and cheer them on their way.
The parade ended in the Valley Gardens, where the fair is traditionally held. The Lady Evelyn waterwheel, recently repaired and turning once again, formed an impressive backdrop.
The fair was officially opened by the Lieutenant Governor Sir Richard Gozney and his wife, Lady Gozney. There were stalls, bouncy castles and entertainment provided by folk singers and Manx dancers.
